Even though the concepts may be the same (such as DAW ports and MIDI ports). So please note that your controller and our controllers have different functions and may work differently. The usser is manually mapping the KeyLab Essential to Logic Pro X apart from the Mackie Control setup, then that is the problem, you cannot manually map the KeyLab Essential using the Analog Map or DAW Map, you need to use a USER MAP and create a independent new ZONE in the Controller Assignments window of Logic Pro X as I mentioned in the previous mail. Regarding the second article, please notice is also for the KEYLAB ESSENTIAL. It is possible that since your controller also has both ports active, the solution described in the article has helped a bit.Ĭould you confirm that your controller configuration in LPX is correct and that you are selecting the correct ports to map? Otherwise you may have conflicts between the LPX pre.mapping and what you are manually mapping. In summary, you will be able to use the Map 1 to control Analog Lab and Arturia instruments, the DAW Map to control your DAW using the MCU/HUI protocol, and you can create your own user maps (USER button) but please notice this apply for ARturia controllers. One for sending the normal MIDI messages as a MIDI Controller (Arturia KeyLab MIDI Port) and the other one is the (Arturia KeyLab) DAW Port (This is called MIDIIN2 and MIDIOUT2 on Windows) that sends all the DAW command center messages for the DAW integration (based on MCU/HUI) I would like to clarify that the USB Port of the KeyLab sends 2 MIDI Ports to the computer. I did all the midi mapping and it all works in standalone mode, but it doesn’t work when Analog Labs is opened as a plugin VST in Logic. Therefore, your controller will not have this option as it is not automatically assigned to our software or any other third party software. Our MIDI controllers (like Keylab Essential, Keylab MKII) have 3 mapping modes Analog Lab (automap Arturia instruments) DAW map (automap the DAW parameters) and USER map (if you wish to map something else according to your needs). Saw a similar issue reported where the resolution was "setting Map Select bank to 'Analog Lab' Not sure what this means? On the one hand, unfortunately, I do not have your specific MIDI controller, but I will try to clarify the points you mention in more detail and try to find a further solution. I'm sorry the information provided hasn't been helpful so far however I think there may be misunderstandings since it seems that the articles you comment (as well as the instructions with which I provide you with the examples) are for our controllers (keylabs) and not specifically for your controller. Problem is all the other VSTs and Smart Controls won’t work. To get V Collection midi mapping to work in Logic, you have to de-select the automatic control surface feature in preferences | control surfaces.īy doing so the V Collection mapping takes over and works as expected. Ideally I'd like a decent amount of knobs (would pots or encoders be best?) and some faders, but was wondering what other people have found to be useful.įor those people who have had success - how do you remember the midi bindings? Is it just repetition, or do you use labels/colour coding? I'm not a keyboard player so wouldn't be really that interested in any of the Keylabs. I'm looking at the Launch Control MKII and Akai Midimix and leaning toward the Akai in terms of price, but was wondering if anyone out there has had decent success with a midi control surface and V collection. I tried the Minilab for V Collection control (which has some custom bindings already) and it was nice enough, but I found there to be a lot of lag and jumpiness to the bindings (not sure if there's an easy fix for this though!). I already have a Minilab MKII, but I'm not a keyboard player and my main midi device is a Launchpad Pro MKIII which is amazing. I actually don't mind using a computer to do a fair bit of the patching given that I'm a big fan of VCV Rack, but when it comes to playing having physical controls is obviously more satisfying and useful so I'm keen to get a midi control surface to help out. I recently bought V Collection 8 with the crossgrade sale and I'm having a blast trying new synths, messing around and learning how to make patches on all of them.
